As many of you know I'm an elementary school teacher. My job has been a roller coaster of an experience. I thought this job would be fairly easygoing not because I thought teaching was a laid back profession but because I felt that this is truly where God wanted me to be at this time & that I was walking in His will. I soon woke up from this fairy tale. I've been attacked hard in this job. One time in particular I received a nasty email from one individual that I worked with. I was seriously flabbergasted when I read the email. I was straight up attacked by a woman that misunderstood an email I sent to her.
I cried many tears to God that day. Even thought about quitting. I couldn't understand why someone would be so nasty to me when I'm doing this job strictly to service other young people who deserve a quality education. Well during one of my devotional times with God I read in 1 Peter 3:13-14 "Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear their threats and do not be frightened." This speaks to my situation perfectly. After her email I was afraid.
I said oh no I'm a new teacher she's a veteran I can already see her trying to tarnish my reputation around this school. But as the scripture said do not fear threats or be frightened. This woman had no reason to attack me the way she did and although she tried to knock me down she didn't succeed. I believe that soon this woman saw that I had only good intentions in my heart and her email response was totally out of line.
Also, I know that I'm walking in my purpose. As the scripture states I'm eager to do good - I'm passionate about social justice and the fight for educational equity. I'm not sure why God wants me to be teaching right now but for some reason He does and I answered that call. I truly could have done any other job but I chose to answer the call to serve. But when you choose to be obedient to God you are also making a conscious decision to not follow satan. Do you understand that? When you choose to live for God you are also choosing NOT to live for satan. And at that point you have just become a serious threat to satan and his army of angels. Because now you are living to build God's kingdom instead of Satans. Therefore, Satans natural response is to come for your throat. Think about it. If you choose to follow your own selfish desires you are following Satans plan for your life. Therefore, you are right where he wants you. But once you choose to do things God's way get ready. Many times in my life I've gone my way straying from God's will. But I soon got fed up and said no more and that's what let me to this job. That email from that lady was an attack from satan to get me out from under God's will but it didn't work.
That should give you a little confidence and a reason to rejoice because you know you are doing the work of The Lord. Stay covered in God's word daily. You're going to need God's strength to complete His will anyways. On a job you will encounter people out to harm you for no reason but pray about it and keep moving forward. One thing that really helped me was 10 commandments of the workplace sermon by TD jakes which can be found on YouTube[links to the full sermon are posted below]. Whether you are an almost grad in your last semester of school about to enter the workplace or if you're almost at the brink of retirement this sermon is for you. This sermon unveils many attacks you may receive from Satan when on a job completing an assignment from The Lord. No matter what job you do from working at Kroger, to CEO of a company God has you here for a specific reason. You may have believed your current job is just a money making situation but don't be fooled you have an assignment to complete. Stay alert. Clothe yourself daily in God's strength. Never give up & finish the race.
I ask that if you have read this blog that you will please pray for me as I am currently in my second semester in my first year of teaching. I want to stay focus, continue to develop myself & finish strong. Most importantly please pray for my students & their families. Pray for their academic growth & personal growth as well. Thank you for taking the time to pray for me & my students.
